BrainScan Software Products

BrainScan Software products are initially built to solve a need within our own development environment. As we refine these tools to suit a broader spectrum of uses, we sometimes see value in polishing them for release to the community of developers with similar needs. Some tools we provide free for personal use, and others we request a small contribution to support the future development and publication of these and other products.

All of our products are all downloadable in fully functional form, so you can get an honest feeling of the benefits of the software before making your purchase. We hope you find these products as useful and as we do. If you like them, let us know. If you don't like them, or have problems with them, let us know that as well. Through your input and encouragement (purchasing products is a very effective means of communication), we will continue to improve these products and to supply other nifty products in the future.

BrainHex

The world's greatest (and noisiest) hexadecimal file editor for Macintosh. This cool utility lets you poke around inside both the data fork and the resource fork of any file in hex codes, as well as providing the most robust Finder Info dialog this side of Saturn. If you don't know what hex codes are, you probably don't need this, but if you do then this tool is for you! Shareware, $25 (19 hex).

BrainHex works great in the Classic environment under MacOS X. Any shareware registrations received after January 1, 2004 will receive a free upgrade to the native MacOS X version of BrainHex if and when it is completed.

DNA Libraries

Coming Very Soon...

The BrainScan WebDNA Libraries leverage the power of the WebDNA [function] context (introduced in WebDNA version 5), to extend the WebDNA language with numerous useful commands. When you include one of these function libraries into your WebDNA document, you can make use of the new commands to simplify your code, accelerate your development process, and add features and robustness that may have been too tedious or complex to develop.

The initial libraries will include:
BrainScan Utilities Library - miscellaneous useful functions for finding max or min values, sorting word lists, generating passwords and more.
BrainScan Forms Library - utilities for building forms and validating user input.
BrainScan Epoch Library - utilities for building and working with timestamps based on both WebDNA's date range and the standard Unix Epoch date range.

DNA Brain

Coming slightly less soon...

DNA Brain is a powerful tool for web developers using Smith-Micro's WebDNA dynamic web server software. DNA Brain is a system of web pages that give the developer in-depth access to their WebDNA-based server, allowing the developer to create, edit and delete files, view and manage directory listings, upload images and other files, and edit, execute and perform syntax checks on their WebDNA code.

This is a truly powerful tool that will totally transform the way you develop and manage your WebDNA web sites!
